Install Solr 5 and configure it with Drupal 7 Linux Centos Debian Ubuntu Redhat

cd opt
wget www.eu.apache.org/dist/lucene/java/5.4.1/lucene-5.4.1.zip
unzip solr-5.4.1.zip
cd solr-5.4.1
bin/solr start

Then type

http://localhost:8983/solr
or
http://your_IP:8983/solr

Now you need to create core

Say for instance if you need to create

Core with name 'dino'

Click on Core Admin Now Click Add Core

cd /opt/solr-5.4.1/server/solr

mkdir dino
cd dino
mkdir conf

cp search_api_solr/solr-conf/5.x/* /opt/solr-5.4.1/server/solr/data/dino/conf
cp opt/solr-5.4.1/server/solr/configsets/basic_configs/conf/* /opt/solr-5.4.1/server/solr/data/dino/conf (optional if not for drupal)

And successfully created a core
